![]() ![]() In Conan, different gods allow their followers to have powers in their name, summoning demons or enchanting weapons, and people do rituals and summon the gods for their favour and magics.“Behold those who have power, and who are not afraid to wield it. This caused the formation of the Houses, that act like commercial corporations that sell their services and allow certain abilities, like the creation of Lighting Rails and flying machines.ĪNOTHER way is with powerful entities that give powers, like gods or demons. For example, in Eberron, certain families have Dragonmarks, that give them affinity with specific magic powers. A lot of systems around this subreddit have power limits like these.Īnother way is make them work in some special way that allows some particular mechanic of your world. Too much power used too fast may make them explode and summon a demon. They must know the Language of Magic to cast spells. It affects them in body and mind, making them slightly insane. A good example is Warhammer in this case: their magic is dangerous and chaotic. and sorry if this post is really long lol This gave me another idea of having magician guilds/groups in my world usually be insane or mentally troubled to an extent due to their overusage of their magic abilities. not exactly heartless but id think their emotions and thoughts would be thrown out of wack. Instead of insanity like chaos, void would break down the users mind, causing them to be. If they were to use it excessively, their body heat would drop at a fast rate, causing their own body to freeze. an example i had was a void user getting rid of the heat within an object to freeze it. this could make void very taxing on the users energy. On the other hand, something like void is a lower level of entropy. The energy building up constantly in the users body could eventually drive them to madness, and start causing fatal damage to their body/cells, since their bodies arent capable of absorbing that much energy that they are drawing from chaos. With chaos magic, it would raise the entropy within the users body. I was thinking that the effect on entropy could affect the body in the same way. I just want some thoughts on it currently.Īlright! Well you mentioned that chaos would be higher levels of entropy, and void would be lower levels of entropy. I'm planning on making another post once its fully complete. Really sorry if there's anything major that I didn't explain in this post. They may be called "Sky-bound" due to their attunement to the sky.ĭue to how broad Chaos and Void can be, it would allow for quite a bit of freedom in terms of what kind of magic you would be wanting to use. An example is someone being born with abilities related to the sky or wind. The ability/element would usually be followed by "bound". People would also often be born with certain abilities. From using magic to wipe matter from existence, to conjuring eldritch spirits from the void, to even nullifying chaos magic, and some other things. On the other hand, magic from the Void would be less common things. Using magic from Chaos would be things like harnessing elements, enchanting weapons, sorcery, healing your allies, manipulating the weather, and so on. People are capable of influencing Chaos and Void using their will/willpower, allowing them to cast a variety of magic spells of the such. The way people harness this magic varies slightly, but the basic idea is will. These two forces are the building blocks of the universe, and make up everything, from matter, light, energy, etc. Magic in my universe comes from two sources, known as Chaos and Void. I wont go into too much detail since I'm still working on the magic-system and thinking a lot about how it will affect my world but I do have a general idea. ![]() Its just a random idea a had for the magic system. Sorry if the title sounds a little weird.
